Memorium: Blitz |
More Snapshots |
Miscellaneous snapshots from Etta's refrigerator magnet collection. Blitz was my first German Shepherd, a pure-breed Schutzhund champion that we bought when we lived in Washington Depot, Connecticut. Just before he died, we bought a second Shepherd, Kacz, and another, Blitz II, both of whom are about the same age and still with us today. Kacz is an American style Shepherd; long, lean and clumsy. Blitz II was imported directly from East Germany and is a classic pureblood Shutzhund champion, consciously bred as a working dog and far more muscular and blocky than Kacz.
My wife, Etta, had a tiny Yorkshire Terrier named Akache when we met at Bill Monroe's bluegrass festival in Beanblossom Indiana. When Akache died, she bought Poppy as a replacement, then inherited Pepper when her mother died. All of these have long since departed, all of plain old age.
