My interests are in digital rights management, reconcepualizing universities as interactive distributed learning communities, and software engineering. Most of my recent work is in XML, Java, Ruby, Python and Perl. Before those, I mainly used a language I invented early in my career, Objective-C.

My work on Objective-C and its Software-IC library got me interested in social and organizational learning as discussed in these articles on the social construction of reality and my second book, Superdistribution: Objects as Property on the Electronic Frontier.
